Happy Birthday Briceman!

Our Briceman turned 4 years old today! We celebrated by going to Incredible Pizza and playing lots of games, riding go carts and bowling. It was a very big day!

 His Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell were here yesterday and we had cupcakes and ice cream. His birthday party is scheduled for next weekend and we plan to have lots of people here and a bounce house in the backyard. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Brian and I gave him his birthday present this weekend, an aquarium. He loves it. The first thing he did this morning was to go check on his "sharks". The "sharks" are actually four small goldfish that barely made it to the checkout counter at Wal-Mart yesterday. Brice insisted on carrying his bag of fish and swung them from side to side, shook the bag, and rattled their poor little goldfish brains. So far, so good…no causalities.

1. The clothing outfit you remember from childhood and why?
Shorts, t-shirt, knee socks, cowgirl boots and cowgirl hat.  I remember this most because it irritated my mom that my dad let me dress myself and my parents still give me a hard time about that fashionable little number today.

2. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?  An animator for Disney, although my drawing skills were lacking or a softball coach.

3. What is your must have for Fall?  A comfy pair of jeans.

4. If money were no object, how many kiddos would you really have?  Honestly, I think I would say 3.  I love being mom.

5. The best part of being a mother?  Spending everyday with my kids.  Watching them learn something new and just all the funny stuff they do.  The hugs and slobbery kisses.  I always say what did we do before we had kids?  A few things actually, we were able to eat a meal at a normal rate, watch a television show or movie without having to pause, sleep through the night, open the refridgerator with out having our hands stick to the door handle, look out our front door or car windows and not see handprints, the list could go on and on.  Although, I wouldn't change a thing.

It's Almost Fall

Fall is absolutely my favorite time of year.  I always look forward to the cooler weather.  It was a beautiful day here yesterday, sunny and 75 degrees.  I had to get outdoors as soon as possible yesterday.  I loaded up the boys, grabbed a picnic lunch, and we headed to the park.  We have a little park just down the street from our house.  It's never busy and I do not understand why that is.  It is in a nice newer neighborhood, the playground is like new, it has picnic tables with a shelter, and it's always clean and well maintained.  I like this playground because it is just the right size for Brice.  I can take Rogan out of his stroller and play with him and let Brice go and climb, slide, jump, and swing around like a little monkey without having to worry that he will fall off the playground equipment and get hurt.  I guess I am sort of glad no one else enjoys this little gem of a place because we get it all to ourselves.  We spent about 3 hours at the park yesterday, playing, eating, and getting dirty. We came home, dumped the gravel out of our shoes, and the boys took naps without a fuss. It was a fun filled day.

Sorry, We're Closed

I love to get up and around in the mornings.  Sorry, that's a lie.  I hate getting up, but I love to go and do activities during the morning hours.  My boys and I usually do all our running around before noon.  These hours seem to work out the best for us.  Usually stores and parks are less crowded.  We are home for lunch, which prevents us from eating fast food.  We are able to be home by nap time which usually happens around 1 p.m. in our house.  In the summers we beat the heat. 

So today was no different, we were up and at em' and ready to go.  I had big plans for us today.  We were going to go to the Riverwalk, play at the Fun House, have a treat at Marble Slab Creamery, play in the fountains, then head home for lunch and a nap.  I figured we'd be there before everything opened, but we could easily kill time playing on the walking trails and in the fountains.  Well, little did I know nothing opens along the river before 11:00 a.m.  What's the deal?  There were plenty of people around, probably potential customers for the all the little shops and boutiques. 

Instead, we played on the trail,  ran through what would have been the fountains (had they been turned on), and window shopped for a little while.  Soon, we loaded back up and headed to the playground, it's always open.  I guess, it doesn't pay to be the early bird in the these parts.  I was going to try again this afternoon but of course it was cool, cloudy and rainy.

Snake Wranglers

Brice loves to play with his toy snakes.  We have rubber snakes, pillows shaped like snakes, wooden snakes, plastic snakes, we make snakes from Play Doh.  We have a whole lot of snakes around here, no real ones though.  I think Brice is passing along his passion for snakes to his little brother.  Here are a few pictures of my little snake wranglers playing together yesterday.
