Moving Over

>> Sunday, September 26, 2010

My first blog was this blog, The Mitchell Family, about a year later I began blogging at Adoptive Momma of Two.  Since then I have kept up with two blogs often having posts overlap.  A month or so ago I purchased the domain www.adoptivemomma.com  since then I had contemplated merging my two blogs into one.

Surprisingly, it was much easier than I expected to merge and I am now from this point forward only posting at Adoptive Momma of Two.  If you follow this blog and want to keep up with the Mitchells you should move over and follow Adoptive Momma of Two.  I will post about my family and provide info regarding adoption in this one location.  My life just became a little bit easier and more organized!

Hope you decide to continue to follow us!

Today was nothing special.  We didn't do anything noteworthy.  We did however do this...

I take as many pictures as I can, even when we are not doing anything special.  These days are short lived and I don't ever want to forget.

Preschooler

We just picked up Brice from his first day of PreK.  It was a success.  He said he had so much fun he got to take a nap!  I actually woke him up when I got there to bring him home.  Considering it is raining outside and the kids did not get a recess today, he really must have had fun to be that tired.  Brice said he is excited to go back tomorrow.  Rogan on the other hand was not as happy about school starting.  On the way home this morning after dropping Brice off, Rogan sat in the back seat saying, "Bubba, Bubba?"  He missed his brother.  I missed him today too.

Happy Birthday Brice!

>> Monday, September 6, 2010

Brice woke up to a house decorated in balloons and presents.  After opening his presents in his pajamas, he headed out with his dad to the donut shop to pick out his birthday breakfast.  He will get to go to Toys R Us today and pick out a special toy and we'll eat lunch wherever he choses.  Today is Brice's special day, he's FIVE!

Wilderness Safari

Tomorrow Brice turns 5 years old.  Today, we took the boys over to Gentry, AR to the Wilderness Safari.  The boys had a great time and so did we, watching them get excited about the animals as we drove through the safari park.  We saw all kinds of animals and Brice got to ride a camel.
Here are the pictures from our big day!

So excited to head out for the day...
Rogan loves donut holes!
Helping their daddy drive through the animal park.
The boys loved feeding the animals.
Getting to ride a camel for your 5th birthday, pretty cool!

Children's Museum

>> Wednesday, September 1, 2010

Brice begins school next week so we decided to take a little road trip today to Seminole, OK to visit the children's museum.  We have a children's museum here in Tulsa, but it is lacking.  Brice had been to the museum in Seminole when he was about Rogan's age and I decided it would be nice to go again when he could do more and Rogan would be big enough now to enjoy most of the activities and displays.

The weather was rainy today so it was a perfect day for the road trip.  The boys had a great time.  They flew airplanes...

Demanded "order in the court!"  Notice Rogan the lil' bailiff in the background..
Played with trucks...
Worked on a race car (definitely their favorite)...
Drove a fire truck...
And dug for dinosaurs...
An excellent day.

Before and After

New wood floors and paint
added crown moulding
New paint in the bedrooms and bath too.

I do not think the pictures do all the work we had done justice.  The paint and carpet in the bedrooms is so much better and  the wood floors are great.  We are still working on getting everything back up on the walls, in the closets, and out of the garage.  We also decided to go ahead and have crown added in the kitchen and main hallways too.  Once you get started...it's hard to stop.

We have rented a cabin at Greenleaf Lake nearby.  We plan to spend the weekend floating around the lake in a rented pontoon boat and teaching the boys how to fish.  Looking forward to the weekend.

Texas Bound

>> Monday, August 2, 2010

We are packing and getting ready to head to Texas Wednesday.  I hope to have my car back today or tomorrow.  I'm so over "Big Pimpin'".  We are planning two weeks of fun with my parents and cousins.  I cannot wait to hold my baby cousin again, she will have grown and changed so much since I first saw her.

I'll be a little nervous the entire time we are gone, always having my phone nearby and charged.  We could get the call for the baby any moment.  This is the birth mother's 37th week so baby could make her appearance any time.

If baby comes, I'll be able to rush home and Brian will be here to take care of any immediate issues.  Adoption is a wild ride and this time I guess it was going too smooth for us so we needed to throw a home renovation in there to spice it up!

We will continue to keep you posted, hopefully baby pictures will appear here soon!  If not, I'll have some nice before and afters of the house.

Big Pimpin'

>> Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Last week after I dropped Brian off at work, I was hit in the parking lot.  The front fender of my Armada was damaged, just a fender bender.

While my SUV is in the shop being repaired our insurance provides us with a rental car.  Not just any rental car but this rental car...
This sweet ride is a 2010 Grand Marquis.  When I requested a vehicle large enough for car seats, I thought perhaps a mini van, a full size car, small SUV, I had no idea.  My grandmother has one just like it.

Today as we were leaving the house and I was loading the kids into the car Brice said to me, "Mom, what's this?"  I said, "our new car."  He said, "you sure Mom?"  I don't think he appreciates it either.

Family of Five

In April, we decided to officially start the process to add to our family.  After discussing the possibility for a length of time, we called the adoption agency in April and began the application process.  We found out earlier this month we had been chosen by a birth mother who was due in September.

After an ultrasound, the baby did not cooperate and the doctor was unable to determine the sex.  The doctor did however recalculate her due date and moved it to August 26th. At this point, she is now 36 weeks pregnant and after another ultrasound yesterday we found out the baby is a girl.

Now we wait until the baby is born and 48 hours later we will be able to hold her and bring her to our home.  Of course, the birth mother has the option to change her mind until that time has passed.  So we wait, hope and pray.

Although there are no guarantees, I have been dying to purchase baby items.  Now that we know the gender, I have purchased a few items and held on to the receipts...just in case.  We have also chosen a name, but we will not reveal and selected nursery decor.  Preparing for baby is so exciting.

We will continue to keep you posted.

I Live Dangerously

>> Saturday, July 24, 2010

Rogan is now two, and it is his belief that he is too big to stay in the stroller.  He prefers to keep pace with his big brother.

Brian left for a business trip on Thursday, so I decided to take the boys to the aquarium, stroller free.  It was pretty crowded but we did it anyway.  The boys were great.

Rogan is much better at staying by me than Brice was at his age.  Brice was a darter.  He darted away and I was always ready to run.  He now acts as our tour guide showing little brother and I what the aquarium has to offer.

I am slowly prepping myself for life with three kids.  I can continue to go places pushing a stroller and keep my other two wrangled.  No problem, bring it on.  I like to live on the edge.

A few photos:

Rogan got a fire truck for his birthday and he loves it.
I was too busy being on guard making sure I did not lose anyone while at the aquarium to take photos.
After the aquarium we went to Wendy's for lunch.  Rogan was very excited.
